With students starting to study the discipline in 1983, Accounting is one of the earliest majors of Nanjing Audit University. The first batch of undergraduates was recruited in 1993. The right to award master's degree in Accounting was obtained in 2009, and the first intake of postgraduate students in Academic Accounting study was recruited in 2014, and MPAcc (Master of Professional Accounting) in 2015. Currently, the school has students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Accounting major is designed to cultivate inter-disciplinary accounting talents who can engage in accounting practice, assurance, management consulting and other work in both public and private sectors.
